The JANET Voice Advisory Service joined the ranks of the existing technology advisory services on December 18th 2006. It is available to academic and research organisations wishing to benefit from unbiased expert advice on a wide range of voice over IP network technologies.

JANET(UK) has launched a new service, the JANET Voice Advisory Service. Wide ranging and vendor-independent advice on technologies and implementation is now available from the JANET Voice Advisory Service (VAS) on all aspects of Voice over IP (VoIP) and IP Telephony. Typical areas in which the service is able to provide independent technical support to institutions are; interconnecting traditional PBX equipment over network links using IP, implement IP telephony, utilising VoIP in the form of MSN, AOL, GoogleTalk, Skype etc., connecting to an ISP PSTN gateway service. The e-mail/telephone advisory service is free of charge for JANET customers, but for in-depth support a chargeable consultancy brokering service is also available. VAS will also support the JANET voice collaboration service.

Key features of the service:

  • Free of charge e-mail/telephone advice and guidance on planning and implementation of voice over IP technologies
  • Technical documentation and case study publication
  • Chargeable consultancy arrangement service for in-depth support

To open an enquiry simply e-mail or telephone JANET Service Desk (JSD), e-mail: service@ja.net with your question and ask for the VAS service.
