BMAS One day seminar - 'Streaming media in a low bandwidth environment' - 26th November 2003

This successful seminar was organised by the Bandwidth Management Advisory Service with help from the RSC North West for the benefit of FE and RSC technical staff.

The purpose of the seminar was to inform the FE community about the current findings and best practice recommendations when utilising streaming media in a low bandwidth environment.

A variety of speakers were chosen to represent some of the different facets of streaming media in education; from the aspect of experimentation with streaming systems and bandwidth management techniques, to first hand experience of using streaming media for teaching and learning.

Delegates learnt what can be achieved with streaming media, and how to use it in an educational environment, together with technical recommendations and solutions to problems that are commonly experienced.

A programme of the event is available which has links to all the PowerPoint presentations given on the day.

The conference pack for this event also contained a useful list of streaming media resources

Please note that whilst this event approached the subject of streaming media in a low bandwidth environment from a technical aspect and was therefore aimed at FE technical staff, there may be some points of interest and resources which are also of use to teaching and learning staff. Please see the programme for further details.
