Videoconferencing services using ATM and ISDN transport technologies have been offered to the UK academic and research community since 1993. Over the past few years JANET(UK) has undertaken various initiatives aimed at providing an IP based videoconferencing service over JANET and as a result large scale piloting activity will be undertaken later this year.
Three major initiatives aimed at providing IP based videoconferencing over JANET are currently underway. The "JANET IP Videoconferencing Futures" session will include presentations on the developments within the initiatives:
