As part of the SuperJANET5 programme the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) asked JANET(UK) to estimate the funding requirements of the five Scottish Regional Networks over the lifetime of SuperJANET5 to ensure that the Regional Networks are in a position to deliver the SuperJANET5 objectives. Working in partnership with the Scottish Regional Network Operators, the requirements were presented to SFC and as a result funding has been made available over a five year period starting FY 2005-06. The funding will be managed by JANET(UK), on behalf of SFC, and linked to specific SuperJANET5 goals and targets, in a similar way that the Higher Education Funding Council for England investment into the English Regional Networks is being administered.
