World Events Multicast over JANET
The funeral of Pope John Paul II and the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles were broadcast live over the JANET network. The carriage of major event coverage over JANET brings topical media rich content directly to the users desktop, so opening up further opportunities for education. This was made possible through the establishment of a direct multicast peering between JANET(UK) and the BBC.
