Dr Bob Day appointed Chief Technology Officer

Bob Day has been appointed as a full JANET(UK) board member with the designation of Chief Technology Officer ( CTO ). In this role  his responsibilities will include  leading the development and procurement of services, ensuring that the technology deployed is cutting edge and remains fit for purpose. He will also maintain the key relationships with regulators and peer organisations and continue to develop international relationships with other NRENs.

Bob commented:

'I look forward to the challenge of ensuring that JANET continues to enable the UK research and education communities to fully exploit the benefits of a common networking infrastructure and service portfolio. With the procurement of SuperJANET5 well underway we can all look forward to some exciting developments as the next generation of the JANET backbone comes into operation in 2006.'
