EastNET is a JANET regional network, managed directly by JANET(UK), that provides connections between a number of higher education institutions, further education colleges, research institutions and Adult and Community Learning institutions in the East of England. The contract for the telecommunications infrastructure used to build EastNET terminates on 30 September 2006. In April 2005 JANET(UK) issued a Request for Information (RFI) in order to gather information on what would be feasible within the region prior to a formal launch of a procurement to replace the existing infrastructure. JANET(UK) are using the Government Telecoms Catalogue Framework to procure the telecommunications infrastructure.
