The Research sector is a major user community on JANET and provides a strong drive for development and evolution of the network. The current approach to SuperJANET5 incorporates providing dedicated network capacity for large science and research projects.
As well as having direct contact with researchers to understand and accommodate how a particular group plans to undertake its work over the network, JANET(UK)
JANET(UK) also invites community representation on its own advisory groups, project and procurement panels. The company provides advice on networking issues where requested, and the understanding it gains of how the community is using the network contributes to JANET continuing to be a network which is fit for purpose and which meets the requirements of its various communities.
The development programme has strong links to the broader UK research programmes in the areas shown in the links to the right.
