In September 2005 JANET(UK) concluded a six month study into network reliability, which focused on the edge of the network as the final part of the delivery chain of services to end users. The aim was to provide practical advice on network infrastructure reliability for JANET connected organisations. Electronic versions of the results are available in compressed (6.7Mb zip) or uncompressed (8.8Mb PDF) form.
The study conducted interviews with key staff from a range of JANET connected organisations, to find the key areas of dependency their organisations have on their local network infrastructure and their connections to JANET. The online survey was in two parts:
The results from the survey, including case studies, will be used to advise strategic and network managers.
