Network Development
The successful operation of any network is dependant on its underlying infrastructure and the way it has been engineered to support the needs of its users and applications.
A broad range of network engineering development projects (above) have been commissioned by JANET(UK), as part of the SuperJANET Development Programme, to ensure that the underlying JANET network service is able to meet any novel demands of new applications. These projects address a number of areas covering transmission technologies, new internet protocols, traffic engineering techniques to allow Quality of Service on the network, and the exploration of network access services to connect education and research organisations to JANET using both wired and wireless technologies. The projects can vary in size and include the initiation of small trials as well as large scale piloting activities leading to full services on JANET.
