A PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT ARCHITECTURE FOR JANET
- JANET Performance Measurement Project Final Report July 2006 pdf : doc
- A Performance Measurement Overview was produced in January 2005: pdf : doc
The Performance Measurement Trial aims to develop and trial a network performance measurement architecture that will meet the needs of JANET's users and researchers. The focus is on measurement methods and techniques as well as the architecture required to store data effectively in a meaningful way for all JANET Connected Organisations and for JANET's many network links.
The project objectives are to:
- Deploy performance measurement points at strategic points on the JANET network.
- Deploy a flexible data collection and storage infrastructure to gather JANET performance measurement data from the measurement points and from existing measurement devices, such as JANET Netsight and router SNMP data.
- Evaluate the available methods of analysing and visualising network performance measurement data.
- Assess user requirements and gather feedback from participating JANET Connected Organisations on the usefulness, and suitability, of performance data provided through a range of trial interfaces.
- Provide recommendations to the SJ5 project in relation to performance measurement architectures.
