e-Science/e-Research

e-Science describes the concept of large scale science carried out through distributed global collaborations enabled by the Internet. A typical feature of such collaborative scientific enterprises is that they require access to very large data collections, very large scale computing resources and high performance visualisation back to the individual user scientists.

JANET is the network infrastructure upon which the UK e-Science Programme is based. JANET(UK) is supporting the e-Science programme in terms of ensuring that where possible the network support needs of the programme are met.
