JANET(UK) is developing services to promote educational collaboration across the JANET network.
These developments can be seen in two current JANET(UK) areas of work:
The JANET Voice Service, known as JANET Talk, will provide a rich multimedia collaboration environment based on SIP and will be launched later in 2007. The service infrastructure is currently under procurement; further information on this process is available.
The JANET Collaborate Pilot is being developed to help educators find others with shared educational interests, and encourage opportunities for collaboration, especially using videoconferencing technology. Once launched, the pilot will provide a basic collaboration tools and will be available for use across the UK education community. It is hoped it will provide a focus for discussion, and form the foundations for a full collaboration service.
