AUTHENTICATION AND AUTHORISATION

An increasingly wide variety of services accessible via JANET require access control. This generally involves:

• Authentication – is a user who they say they are?
• Authorisation – is that user allowed to use the requested service?

The framework for controlling user access is commonly referred to as an Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI). The AAI programme of work will support the development of infrastructure, technologies and tools to support authentication and authorisation solutions for the JANET community.
